March 2022 - Client in Focus - Grainmaster Milling, Howick, KZN – South Africa

Grainmaster Milling (KGB) is a joint venture project entered into between 4 farmers in KwaZulu Natal to support their poultry operations. As part of the venture, Graham Griffin (of Gravic Farms), Alistair Firth (of Mayfield), Brad Fyvie (of Skye Broiler Breeders) and Keyan Carlisle (of Kinmount) set out to establish a feed mill to bring the nutrition of their animals under their control and cut costs on feed purchases from commercial suppliers. This endeavor has been supported by De Heus Animal Nutrition in the area – empowering local business cooperation.

The company got in touch with Dalein Agriplan to assist them with the delivery of the project and the result was a state of the art MK-3C Feed Mill at their premises next to the N3 highway, in the Howick area. The plant has been equipped with bulk raw material receiving facilities, bulk raw material storage in bunkers, pre-grinding maize- and raw material milling systems, a ±25 Tons/hr batching and mixing system (with a ±2Ton Twin Shaft Paddle Mixer) and bulk final product storage and outloading facilities.

The plant utilized Inteqnion (a company in the Triott Group of the Netherlands) as it’s software integrator and automation provider in partnership with Dalein as local agents to deliver a world class software experience to the operational team at the mill. The electrical hardware (switchgear and PLC hardware) for the control of the equipment has been imported from Inteqnion and continued support on the system installed will be offered by Dalein – offering a “one-stop” service solution for mechanical, electrical, software and maintenance related queries.

Dalein Agriplan is very proud of its partnership with Grainmaster Milling and look forward to a fruitful relationship with them in future!

"To everyone at Dalein who helped to get the project off the ground and up and running, a very big thank you!

The professionalism that was exhibited from everyone involved made this project incredibly seamless during a very difficult time with steel shortages and Covid interfering the whole way through. I was and still am very impressed with the amount of back up that is provided and the willingness to sort out any issues that inevitably arise with a project of this scale. I have always been assisted quickly and efficiently, be it over the phone or in person when needed.

I am looking forward to working with everyone again during a planned expansion and believe we will have the same level of service again."
